"Are any among you suffering? They should pray…. Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord."
The Healing Prayer Guild is a group of persons trained in the ministry of Healing Prayer and Anointing. Each Sunday two members offer Anointing for Healing during the service, as Communion is distributed. Members of the Guild will also meet with someone immediately after the service, for continued prayer. And, if requested, Guild members will pray with someone who may be home-bound, hospitalized, or in a nursing home. Each month, Guild members pray with patients at the Bolingbrook Christian Health Clinic.
Prayer requests can be for a variety of reasons, anything that may be troubling a person; concerns for other family & friends, worries about the world, help with making difficult decisions and, of course, for personal health – body, mind, and spirit. The concerns brought forth during a Healing Prayer moment are held private and confidential.
Recognizing that Christmas can be fraught with tender and painful memories, on the Sunday before the holiday the Healing Prayer Guild hosts a Blue Christmas service. The wider community is welcomed to come to this ecumenical event, to ease their spirits and soothe their souls as they rest in the calm of an Evensong For A Blue Christmas.
