St. Benedict is named for St. Benedict of Nursia who wrote a Rule of Life that places hospitality, community and prayer at the center of a holy life. We seek to practice these same values while engaging the world around us.

Our community is composed of men, women children, older, younger, well dressed, casually dressed, gay, lesbian, heterosexual, Black, White, Filipino, South Asian, Nigerian, Hispanic, British, differently-abled, divorced, single, married, faithful, doubting, Democrats, Republican, Independents, Cub fans, Sox fans...from Bolingbrook, Plainfield, Naperville, Romeoville, Downers Grove, Glen Ellyn, and the Joliet area.

St. Benedict is listed on GayChurch.org as a church that welcomes and affirms LGBTQ individuals and their families.

We look to each other - not just our priest - as ministers. We are all called to serve God's world, and we are committed to God's mission in the world of reconciliation and restoration.
